B&w 801 Series 80

B&W 801 Series 80. The 801 series 80 came in 2 different variants the 801 and 801F They were made from the early 80‘s through IIRC about 1989 or so The major difference between the original and the 801F was that the older model had a battery powered protection system that required you to flip the speaker over to change the battreries every once in a while.

My 801 made my Yamaha PC4002M clip with ease The Series 80 is in my Signature and in my listening room It means just imho that these speakers are the 1980s line from B&W While there are two different versions from the 801 (801 801 S80 801 Series 80 801F F afaik for fibre (con)crete Head yes concrete!)20191225201609302013020920120819.

B&W Bowers & Wilkins 801 Series 80 Midrange Driver MR100

The 80 series was a great match with the Threshold stuff The Bryston will have the juice but depending on age you might need to work on cables to voice it right Modern B&W and Bryston work very well but is a pretty revealling combo and can be a bit lean The older B&Ws are fuller sounding but still demand top flight source and amplification.

b&w 801 series 80 question

I bought these a couple months ago in fair shape cosmetically This restoration project included some work on the cabinets and a fairly major rework of the crossover replacing components and splitting to allow biamp between mid/top and bass.
